Manish Kumar is an international development professional with over 14 years of experience and expertise in research, design, implementation, scale-up and institutionalization of innovations (information systems innovations in particular) in global health, nutrition, and agriculture. He has provided technical and managerial services to programs on health systems strengthening, health information systems, knowledge management, mhealth, organizational development, maternal, new born, child health and nutrition, family planning, nutrition systems, media and communication, agricultural extension, policy advocacy, and partnerships management.
Kumar has worked with international NGOs such as John Snow Inc. Research and Training Institute, Abt Associates, IntraHealth International, Inc., and OneWorld International-South Asia. He has offered technical leadership in global projects such as Health Finance and Governance (HFG), Strengthening Partnerships, Results and Innovation in Nutrition Globally (SPRING), and MEASURE Evaluation. He has also worked extensively in India at different levels of the public health system and was instrumental in creating the first state-wide human resource information system for the department of health in the Indian state of Bihar.
Kumar has worked with Vital Wave since 2008 on a number of health-focused projects in India and Bangladesh. He completed his Master’s in Public Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He also holds an M.Sc in Management of Agriculture Knowledge Systems from the Wageningen University in the Netherlands, and an M.Sc. in Development Communication from the G.B.Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, India.
