As Vice President of Professional Services, Brendan Smith leads the development of Vital Wave’s strategic insights and the application of its research and analytical approaches, drawing on his in-depth knowledge of international development and industry sectors such as health and financial services. Mr. Smith brings years of expertise in information and communications technologies for development (ICT4D), with a particular focus on strategic needs assessments, competitive analyses, and industry policy and regulation. This is complemented by his experience in field research and ICT4D program implementation.
During his time at Vital Wave, Mr. Smith has led many of the firm’s highest-profile engagements, including data-driven analyses of the market potential in emerging-market cities and landmark reports on mobile health (mHealth) and health information systems. He cultivates relationships with Vital Wave’s clients and works with the company’s project teams to ensure that research and analytical findings lead to actionable insights and recommendations. In addition to overseeing and leading engagements, Mr. Smith plays a critical role in the management and strategic growth of Vital Wave.
Mr. Smith holds a Master’s degree in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics and an undergraduate degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. In addition to his native English, he is fluent in French.
