Annie O’Connor brings nearly a decade of strategic management expertise focused on emerging markets to Vital Wave. Experienced in for-profit, non-profit and philanthropic operations, Ms. O’Connor uses her cross-sector expertise to facilitate the development of strategic client engagements.
Prior to joining Vital Wave, Ms. O’Connor was engaged by Qualcomm’s Wireless Reach Initiative where she supported the Manager of the China and Latin America regions to design and implement mServices projects, with a special emphasis on Health Care. As the Business Development Manager for Sustainable Energy Services Afghanistan (SESA), she applied her training in business, policy, and development to facilitate the creation of public-private partnerships to support Afghan economic development, in country. While completing her master’s degree in International Affairs, Ms. O’Connor conducted field research, wrote cost-benefit analyses and led strategic planning initiatives in support of community organizations in Latin America. Ms. O’Connor’s prior business experience includes management responsibility for million dollar software development and systems integration projects for customers such as Ryder de Mexico, Hanjin Shipping and the New York Container Terminal. She is also a former Program Associate of the El Pomar Foundation, where her responsibilities included the management and disbursement of grants to non-profit organizations.
Ms. O’Connor holds a Master’s degree in Pacific International Affairs with honors from the University of California, San Diego and an undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies from The Colorado College. She is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and has lived and worked in Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru and Afghanistan.
